How to measure your PD in 10 seconds:

In most cases you can easily measure your own PD (Pupillary Distance) which is the distance between the centre of your right pupil and your left pupil.

1. Look into a mirror about 30cm away. If necessary put your readers on.

2. Place a ruler in front of your eyes and measure the distance in millimetres from the centre of one pupil to the centre of the other pupil. It might be easier to close one eye when reading the numbers on the ruler over the pupil centre.

Your Prescription

  • Your prescription states what power lenses you need for each eye and the distance between your pupils called "distance P.D." Some optometrists omit the distance PD and we recommend you ask this be put on your prescription.
  • If you did not get a copy of your prescription and wish to make an online order with us then ring up your optometrist and ask that your prescription including your distance PD be given to you.
  • A distance PD is not required on your script if you book a home or office visit with us as we will measure it for you.
